Adam Willetts

Work: Sunburners
Bio: Adam Willetts is an artist and musician living and working in Christchurch, New Zealand. He works across a variety of mediums producing electronic music, sound art, sculpture and paintings. Drawing from a broad range of influences including science fiction, video games, psychedelia, robotics, gardening and a diverse variety of music, Adam creates ambiguous, abstract works that suggest imaginary environments and lifeforms. In all mediums he employs improvised processes balanced by elements of careful composition, forming and transforming shapes, patterns, structures and colours so that simple elements become complex as a result of their interactions, modulations and material instabilities. Adam has exhibited and performed throughout New Zealand and internationally for over a decade with recent shows including: Elsewheres, Audio Foundation, Auckland 2013; Lines Of Flight 2012; Stars In My Carpet Like Lumps Of Porridge, RM, Auckland, 2012; Staying Over, City Gallery Wellington, 2011; Animal Spirits, Sugarcube Gallery, Stockholm, 2011; Towards a Cinema of Pure Means, The Physics Room, Christchurch, 2010; CloudLand, Substation, Singapore, 2008.
